A Shelter Full of Hope and Promise

Philomena – Phillie adopted June 2015

On a quiet Sunday, WAG received a call that there was a puppy in distress in Mount Currie. She had been attacked by stray dogs. Being a Sunday, only emergency vet care was available, and though we were able to have her seen by Eagleview Veterinary Hospital in Squamish, we were having a hard time finding a driver get her to WAG, let alone drive her all the way to Squamish on a Sunday evening at the last minute! Thankfully, a wonderful man named Phil agreed to pick up her up and bring her to WAG. Once she arrived, it was clear that she needed to see a veterinarian immediately, and with no one to get her to Squamish, the staff were getting worried! Phil discovered that we had not found a driver yet, and to our amazement, he graciously offered to drive the little munchkin the rest of the way, even giving a cash donation for her vet care as well. Refusing all our offers of thanks, we have decided to name her after him, in honor of the efforts he made to ensure her safety and care… Thank you Phil!

Since that Sunday Phillie’s life has been amazing! Phillie has truly become a member of her family. Each and everyday their hearts grow bigger with love for each other. She is attending private and group classes with Alpine Dogs and absolutely loves learning her new tricks. She is a bit of a social butterfly, with humans and dogs, her gentle approach and cuteness has made her very popular.  This girl puts a smile on her forever family’s face everyday!camping (1) chase dirt dog family 2 hot days out for a walk run tuckered out yurt camping
