COVID-19 UPDATE FROM WAG

1) Have you traveled internationally or have you traveled by airplane in the last 14 days?
2) Have you been in contact with someone diagnosed with or being medically evaluated for COVID-19?
3) Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, difficulty breathing, runny nose, muscle aches, OR have you experienced these symptoms in the past 14 days?
4) Have you had direct close physical contact with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days?

Operation

Until further notice, under the current Phase 3 of B.C’s restart plan WAG will continue to be open for essential business only.

Shelter Visitors

WAG is open for all essential WAG business. This includes the following scheduled appointments:

  • Volunteer
  • Adoption
  • Surrender
  • Donation drop off
  • Licensing and Impound services

All Visitor Must:

  • Call to schedule an appointment
  • Bring and wear a face mask
  • Agree to keep a 2 meter distance from WAG staff at all times
  • Cancel appointment if they feel sick, have been in contact with someone who is sick or has traveled outside of Canada in the last 2 weeks.
  • Remain outside for appointments
  • Maximum 2 people for appointments.

Shelter Volunteers 

WAG’s volunteer program is restricted to a select, trained group of volunteers until further notice. 

  • Dog Walking Volunteers will not enter the building, they will text the shelter cell upon arrival and wait outside for the dog. Or to be let through the side gate to the yard
  • Cancel appointment if they feel sick, have been in contact with someone who is sick or has traveled outside of Canada in the last 2 weeks.

Adoption Appointments

WAG will remain open for adoption appointments. We will continue to screen over the phone and limit in-person appointments when possible or otherwise hold them outside.

Adopter must:

  • Call to schedule an appointment
  • Bring and where a face mask
  • Agree to keep a 2 meter distance from WAG staff at all times
  • Cancel appointment if they feel sick, have been in contact with someone who is sick or has traveled outside of Canada in the last 2 weeks.

Impound/Licensing Appointments

WAG will remain open for pre-scheduled licensing appointments and as an impound facility. We request CASH payment whenever possible to limit the number of visitors inside the building.

People coming to purchase a license or redeem an impounded animal are required to:

  • Call to schedule an appointment
  • Bring and where a face mask
  • Agree to keep a 2 meter distance from WAG staff at all times
  • Remain 2 meters from all Bylaw and RCMP officers
  • Cancel appointment if they feel sick, have been in contact with someone who is sick or has traveled outside of Canada in the last 2 weeks.
