Our November Critical Care Case

My Story:

"I am a senior lady with many health problems - though my family loved me, they were unable to give me the proper care I needed as I got older, so now I have a few issues that need to be taken care of!
Thankfully I arrived at WAG where they will do their best to give me the care that I need.

My Health Problems:

-Ear infections
-Chronic allergies
-Skin infection
-Dental infection with an abscessed tooth
-Large mass on my side
-Also small mass under my chin
-Vision issues

-Back pain/arthritis resulting in hyperextended wrists
-Distended abdomen

I have been prescribed Surolan medication for my ears, Apoquel for itchiness, Clavaseptin antibiotics for my infections, and Metacam for pain management.
Once my infections are under control and I am feeling a bit better, my diagnostics and treatments will continue:

-Blood work
-xrays/ultrasound
-Dental
-Mass removals
-Vaccines

Where your donations will go:

Medication
Blood tests

Dental surgery
Tumor removals
Health exams
X-rays
Ongoing treatment and diagnostics

PLEASE HELP WAG COVER THESE COSTS OF MY CARE AND GIVE ME A SECOND CHANCE AT MY GOLDEN YEARS!

Lola has been at WAG two very long years...She was originally brought to WAG in an RCMP seizure when her owners were arrested in Whistler, and they never came back to get her.

She was extremely traumatized during that arrest, and subsequently being brought to WAG in the middle of the night. It was even suspected she may have ingested, or been exposed to drugs. She spent her first night at WAG sick, terrified, alone, and vomiting.

The next morning, when staff arrived and discovered our new arrival and learned her story, we were very cautious and unsure of her temperament, so went very slow. She had a chain around her neck, her leash was caught under the kennel door, and she needed to be moved into a clean kennel. After some creative thinking, we managed to get her into another kennel - we were not sure how she would react to us, but after the night she had just had, the poor girl just wanted someone to cuddle her! So we did...

And that is how Lola's journey at WAG began...

At many other shelters, Lola would have been euthanized immediately due to her behavior issues - thankfully she ended up at WAG where we are happy to work with the less than "perfect" dogs!

Though WAG has become Lola's temporary home, and it is amazing compared to many other places and situations, it is still a shelter. She spends much of her time during the day alone and all night locked in a room by herself. The staff and volunteers' time is always being divided between her and all the other animals at the shelter that need our attention.

What Lola really wants, needs, and deserves, is a home of her own and a family of her own - after two years, maybe you can help us make that happen?

Now we are asking for your help to Find Lola a Home! Follow her story on social media, share, tag, highlight, email, forward, and anything else you can do to get her story out there - we know there is someone out there that is her Perfect Match and can give her all that she deserves!

Some of her requests and requirements:

-A secure, fenced-in yard.
-A quiet area with access to rural, quiet trails.
-You are a lady with no roommates/tenants/shared entrances/kids.
-You own your own home.
-You live a quiet lifestyle with few visitors.
-Pro-Muzzle!
-Has a vehicle.
-Experienced with large dogs.
-Physically strong.
-Does not need to be super athletic! She is a big cuddly couch potato.
-Will find a secluded spot for her to SWIM!
-Will continue to work with a WAG approved trainer.

Check out her adoption profile here.

Name Our Kittens!

BORN JULY 5, 2020

When Jade was surrendered to WAG, she was keeping a little secret! FOUR little secrets actually 😛

They were born at WAG on July 5, 2020, and now we need your help choosing names <3

For every name entry, your $10 will be donated DIRECTLY to the care of these new babies, including vaccinations, deworming, spays and neuters, and ANYTHING else that they need before they are adopted into loving homes at a minimum of 8 weeks old - PLEASE NOTE - WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING ADOPTION APPLICATIONS FOR THESE GUYS YET!

Include your CHOSEN NAME and for WHICH KITTEN in the 'YOUR MESSAGE' section of the donation form and we will enter it in the draw!

You can enter the same name multiple times, or different names - your choice! Just $10 per entry and then JADE WILL PICK THE WINNING NAMES ON JULY 22nd!

She will draw four times, one for each kitten so make sure to tell us which kitten you are entering for!

$40 gets you an entry for ALL FOUR KITTENS!

WHAT DO YOU WIN?

Well, besides the honor of naming these precious little monsters, you will also get a PRINTED PHOTOGRAPH OF YOUR KITTEN, SIGNED WITH THEIR NEW NAME, AND THEIR TINY PAW PRINT!

graphic

We do not know what sexes they are yet, but there are four different colors:

Tiger Stripped Tabby

Orange tabby; The first one born!

Dilute Calico; The Runt and second one born

Calico; Mom's mini-twin!
