Whistler Animals Galore COVID-19 Safety Plan

Operation

Until further notice, under the current Phase 3 of B.C’s restart plan WAG will continue to be open for essential business only.

Shelter Visitors

WAG is open for all essential WAG business. Which includes the following scheduled appointments:

  • Volunteer
  • Adoption
  • Surrender
  • Donation drop off
  • Licensing and Impound services

 

All Visitor Must:

 

  • Call to schedule an appointment
  • Bring and wear a face mask when physical distancing is not possible
  • Agree to keep a 2-meter distance from WAG staff at all times
  • Cancel appointment if they feel sick, have been in contact with someone who is sick, or has traveled outside of Canada in the last 2 weeks.
  • When possible remain outside for appointments
  • If entering buildings they must wash hands, use hand sanitizer, and keep behind the plexiglass.
  • Maximum 2 people for appointments.
  • If unable to social distance the visitor must bring and wear a face mask

 

Shelter Volunteers 

WAG’s volunteer program is restricted to a select, trained group of 10 dog walking volunteers and 3 cat volunteers until further notice.

 

Volunteers are required to:

  • Call to schedule an appointment
  • Bring and wear a face mask when physical distancing is not possible
  • Agree to keep a 2-meter distance from WAG staff at all times
  • Cancel appointment if they feel sick, have been in contact with someone who is sick, or has traveled outside of Canada in the last 2 weeks
  • If entering the building they must wash hand, use hand sanitizer and keep behind the plexiglass
  • Dog Walking Volunteers will not enter the building, they will text the shelter cell upon arrival and wait outside for the dog. Or to be let through the side gate to the yard
  • Cat Volunteers will go directly into the cattery after washing hands and text the shelter cell when they are ready to leave

 

WAG Staff are required to:

  • Sanitize all door handles, treat bags, dog toys, leashes, etc. after each volunteer shift
  • Have a face mask and where when physical distancing is not possible
  • Ensure social distancing is maintained at all times
  • Provide this information to volunteers through email communications prior to shifts

 

Adoption Appointments

WAG will remain open for adoption appointments. We will continue to screen over the phone and limit in-person appointments when possible.

 

Adopters are required to:

  • Call to schedule an appointment
  • Bring and wear a face mask when entering the building
  • Agree to keep a 2-meter distance from WAG staff at all times
  • Cancel appointment if they feel sick, have been in contact with someone who is sick, or has traveled outside of Canada in the last 2 weeks
  • If entering the building they must wash hand, use hand sanitizer and keep behind the plexiglass

 

WAG Staff are required to:

  • Sanitize all door handles, pens, counters, etc. after adopter has left
  • Ensure social distancing is maintained at all times.
  • When possible hold adoption meetings outside. If not possible and adoption meeting will be anywhere beyond the plexiglass location ask that adopters bring and wear a mask
  • Provide our COVID protocols to adopters prior to appointments

 

 

Impound/Licensing Appointments

WAG will remain open for pre-scheduled licensing appointments and as an impound facility.

 

People coming to purchase a license or redeem an impounded animal are required to:

  • Call to schedule an appointment
  • Bring and wear a face mask when entering the building
  • Agree to keep a 2-meter distance from WAG staff at all times
  • Cancel appointment if they feel sick, have been in contact with someone who is sick, or has traveled outside of Canada in the last 2 weeks
  • If entering the building they must wash hand, use hand sanitizer and keep behind the plexiglass
  • Provide all needed information over the phone and only entre the building for payment

 

WAG Staff are required to:

  • Sanitize all door handles, pens, counters, etc. after person has left
  • Ensure social distancing is maintained at all times
  • Remain 2 meters from all Bylaw and RCMP officers
