My story:
Hi, I'm Taylor!
I'm a new arrival at WAG so I am still getting used to my new surroundings and routine. I spent most of my time outdoors before I came here so I am understandably nervous and unsure about lots of things. I have started to trust the staff who are feeding me and showing me lots of love and patience. I have started to ask for pets and cuddles which is huge! I'm not sure what I am doing at WAG but I do like the special treats they have been giving me and am feeling better after getting regular meals and will soon be filling out my slim frame. I have been decompressing and taking things slowly, wearing a leash is scary to me and I am a flight risk at the moment as I am quite jumpy at any loud noises or sudden movements which spook me. The Vet came to WAG to visit me, I was a very brave boy and made my friends so proud! I had my first vaccine and checkup and Dr. Alms at Harmony Vet said I was a gorgeous dog! Hopefully I will continue to settle in, relax and maybe even have a bath, well I might draw the line at that. They called it a 'spa day' but I am not convinced. Apparently I will also be neutered soon, I'm not sure what that means but I hope it involves extra special treats.
My circle is small at the moment but I have stolen the hearts of everyone I have met so far, once I am out of isolation I'll be able to be introduced to some of the other doggos, I would love to play and maybe I'll feel more confident with another 4-legged friend too. I am super sweet and handsome, my tail is starting to wag with joy a little more each day! Please keep an eye on my profile as we all continue to get to know each other and find out my likes, dislikes and pawfect match for adoption! I will need patience and understanding that I have gone through a lot and may have some special requirements. I would love a calm, safe, nurturing home environment with a human(s) who understand that I will need to take things at my own pace and would be keen to work with a WAG approved trainer to help me work on my anxieties and transition into my new life!
My perfect home:
Will understand that I have had a difficult past prior to coming to WAG. I am fearful and it may take a few visits to the shelter before I trust you
Will provide me with a calm quiet home and safe space. Many things are brand new to me, such as car rides, wearing a leash and I am a brave boy but need to take things slowly
Is ready for the 10+ year commitment
Will work with a WAG approved positive reinforcement trainer to help guide me as I transition into my new home and help me feel safe
Will use food as a motivator
Will love me forever no matter what, quirks and all!
Will provide me with vet care with annual checkups, vaccine boosters and anything else I might need
I need a home that is committed to me and ready to give me a life with love and kindness for the rest of my years
