My story:
Hi, I'm Bigfoot!
I recently arrived at WAG with four of my siblings - Bestie, Bear, Artie and Goldie. We are just over a year old with lots to learn and lots of love to give. The girls were transferred to WAGs partner shelter, PAWS and have been getting settled in. The boys have stayed at WAG and are making progress each day. Some of us are more outgoing than others, but we all deserve our own forever homes where we can thrive. I'm Bigfoot, but you can call me Biggie if you like! I am a sweet, affectionate boy who is keen to play with toys and sample all of the treats on offer. Check out my back feet and you'll easily be able to tell me apart from the others! I helped my brother Bestie gain confidence with the humans when we first got here. He is also a lovebug but certainly more cautious initially and is quite jumpy with sudden movements or loud noises. Bear is more outgoing, always the first to say hi and get involved when its time for dinner! We were all underweight when we got here but we already feel much better and have put on some weight. We get fed at least five times a day, split into smaller meals to help our bodies with the adjustment. We had sore bellies at first but probiotics, pumpkin puree and careful feeding has really made a difference as well as administering parasite control. A kind and patient Vet from Harmony Veterinary Services came to the shelter for our checkups and vaccines, it was scary for us but we all did SO well and everyone said how proud of us there were. Going on a car ride to the Vet would have been a bit stressful at this point, we are decompressing and adjusting to our new routine. Baby steps are made each day, including getting used to harnesses and leashes, toileting outside and sleeping inside.
Our previous family loved us very much but were unable to keep providing for so many dogs and their location has limited access to care. Now we are at WAG we will be spayed/neutered as soon as possible to ensure we can be puppies ourselves and not contributing to overpopulation. It is much busier around here than it was at our first home so theres a lot to get used to, luckily we have made friends with the staff quickly and building trust each day.
Biggie awaits a patient, loving family ready to help him continue learning about the world with positive reinforcement, plenty of love, and lots of playtime. If you’re ready to add a sweet, snuggly sidekick to your life, apply to adopt Bigfoot today – he can’t wait to find his forever family!
If you are unable to adopt at this time, please consider becoming a member of WAG's monthly donation club - 'Love on Four Legs'. Your monthly gift helps fund urgent medical care, safe shelter, adoption and fostering programs, and essential community education on responsible pet ownership. With your support, our dedicated team can ensure that every animal receives the care, love, and second chance they deserve.
My perfect home:
Is patient and understands that I will need time to settle in and relax after my adoption and go at my own pace. I have had lots of huge change in my life recently and have a lot to learn.
Be proactive with my training, using a local WAG approved trainer that will help me gain confidence and give me the best set up for success in my new life.
Having a safe & secured yard would be a bonus for morning zoomies and ball play sessions! If not, being okay with using a long line to allow plenty of freedom but keep me safe works too.
Will take me for regular vet checkups and be proactive with my health, whatever that may include moving forward.
