Her goal is simply living her best life, and her “training” is all about teaching her future family how to help her do just that.

My story:

Meet Dudette!

This sweet senior gal just arrived at WAG, and while we’re still learning all her little quirks, she’s already proving to be an easygoing, loving lady. She loves car rides so much that she’ll happily try to hop into just about anyone’s vehicle. She would make a perfect passenger princess for road trip adventures. We suspect she will be a swimmer or at least a wader, as she tries to pull volunteers to any body of water she sees.

Dudette has quickly made friends with all our volunteers and enjoys long, slow strolls where she can stop and sniff to her heart’s content. After a lifetime of roaming and outdoor living, shelter life is not her favourite. She is much more of a sunshine-and-sniff kind of lady.

If left alone in her kennel for too long, Dudette will let out a deep, soulful hound-dog cry that is heartbreaking but completely understandable. She is used to a social life full of freedom, dog friends, and a caring community. While she's had a great life, she is very ready to find a forever family to give her the attention, care, freedom and love she deserves.

She visited the vet last week and was a star, charming everyone at CMVS.  Dudette came to us with many large ticks and skin infections including very sore paws, sores between her toes, and an ear infection. She has been calm and patient, letting us soak her feet and treat her ear like the brave girl she is.

She is now on antibiotics to clear up the infections. Once she finishes, we will run a full blood panel to check her overall health and create a gentle weight-loss plan for this beautiful big lady.

What would make Dudette happiest?

  • Lots of access to nature and outside time, where she can sunbath,  forestbath and enjoy valley trail walks. She's not really a city gal.

  • A soft, loving home where she does not have to sing the kennel blues anymore

  • A big comfy couch and family to cuddle and watch movies with

We are still getting to know this lovely lady, so stay tuned for more Dudette updates.
