I came into WAG because of an injury to my front paw, after weekly bandage changes and lots of recovery time I finally have my splint and cone off!

Post adoption training with a positive reinforcement trainer would benefit Hank and his new family.

My story:

Hi, I’m Hank!

I came into WAG’s care after an accident left me injured and needing lots of vet visits, splint changes, and bed rest. My family loved me very much, but they weren’t able to give me the care I needed to recover. Luckily, WAG stepped in to help — they got me to all my appointments, made sure I took it easy, and kept me entertained during my long recovery.

Now that I’m splint- and cone-free, I’m feeling so much better and showing off my playful side again! I’m currently living with my foster dad, and he says I’m doing amazing. He calls me “90% Handsome, Happy Hank” and “10% Hank the Cheeky Puppy.” I think that’s pretty accurate!

I love lounging around the house — I’ll stretch out on a dog bed or the rug and just relax. I really enjoy slow mornings with cuddles before we head out for a walk to the park after breakfast (he gets to drink his tea first, and I’m okay with that). I’ve also been fine staying home on my own for a few hours when needed.

Walks are super fun! I still get a little excited sometimes, but I’ve made huge progress with meeting new dogs. I’m learning to make calm, polite introductions instead of rushing right in.

I’m a sweet, affectionate guy who just wants to be part of a loving home. My foster dad says I’m an awesome dog — and honestly, I think he’s right! I can’t wait to find my forever family to relax, play, and cuddle with.

My perfect home:

  • Is patient and understands that I will need time to settle in and relax after my adoption and go at my own pace. I have had lots of huge change in my life recently and have a lot to learn.

  • Be proactive with my training, using a WAG approved trainer that will help me gain confidence and give me the best set up for success in my new life.

  • Will take me for regular vet checkups and be proactive with my health, whatever that may include moving forward.
