My story:

Hi, I'm Lady!

I came to WAG earlier this year when my puppies and I needed somewhere safe and warm to land. At only around 1 year old myself, I was a brave young mom who has  conquered my first big challenge - surviving living in the extreme cold outdoors and keeping my litter safe until adoption. Now I am looking for a forever home of my own, and I have come along way from the slim, shy stressed lady I was when I first got to the shelter. I found kennel life hard but I made tons of friends and especially loved car rides and getting out of the shelter. I was a bouncy girl who hadn’t had much life experience and everything around me was new and scary.....

I am lucky that a wonderful foster family were able to bring me home and show me what my next adventure might look like, and offer a quiet place for me to decompress and recover after my long awaited spay. They have passed on the below updates from me to the staff at the shelter:

"I Love cuddles with my humans, spending as much time with my humans,  from walks to relaxing,  to letting them rub my belly.  Did I say I love humans?  I love my foster family so much and want to bring them joy and shown them lots of affection.  I’m not one for playing catch or fetch but if forest walks are your thing then I am your girl.  I walk amazingly on the leash,  I don’t pull very hard unless there is a smell I want to investigate.  I am a garden gremlin and love eating the tall grass that grows between the veggies.  I was a little mouthy at first mainly because I was stressed at the shelter and overwhelmed at all the changes in my life. Now in foster, walks and runs are what I truly love, I’m quite fast once I get going! I love meeting new people and especially other dogs.  Because of my size I do like a strong person holding my leash, sometimes I don’t know my own strenght or weight, so no little kids in my new home please.

I have opened up greatly in my new foster home, I am a bit of a goofy girl who likes to toss about my favourite toy, (it is a stuffed pig wearing a unicorn hoodie),  especially after I have had my dinner and am happy.  I love curling up on my fosters bed and watch a movie with them, while getting my belly rubbed.   When it’s time for bed I have no worries going to my couch and sleeping there until the morning. You might hear me snoring contentedly away. They have been practicing leaving me home alone at times, and I’ve done really well, always greeting them with a wiggly butt and wagging tail when they return."

I would love to find patient understanding humans who will let me take things slowly and will be keen to work with a WAG approved positive reinforcement trainer to help me feel safe, and continue to learn the new skills that will get me to gain confidence and relax in my new home.

What are you waiting for? Apply to bring me home today and I'll fill your life with endless love and joy....

My perfect home:

  • Is dog savvy, patient and understands that I will need time to settle in and relax after my adoption and go at my own pace. I have had lots of huge change in my life recently and am on anti-anxiety medication to help me with the transition, which will need to be continued at the recommendation of my Vet team for the foreseable future.

  • Be proactive with my training, using a local WAG approved trainer that will help me learn transition and give me the best set up for success.

  • Having a safe & secured yard would be a bonus for morning zoomies and play sessions! If not, being okay with using a long line to allow plenty of freedom but keep me safe works too. I would prefer a quieter area if possible!

  • Will take me for regular vet checkups and be proactive with my health.
