My story:
Hi, I'm Lady!
My family and I arrived at WAG when we urgently needed somewhere to go during the extreme cold weather earlier this year. I had an accidental litter, and although still young myself Idid an incredible job of raising my four pups and keeping them safe until we got here. I am a brave young mom who has conquered her first big challenge - surviving living in the cold outdoors and are ready for whats next. I am still learning alot about the world around me, I do find some things difficult so far and the staff are still getting to know me. When I am calm, I am the best office pal and give the best cuddles. When I am feeling anxious or become overwhelmed, I can become very bouncy and am working on my mouthiness. I'm a special girl and can't wait to start my next adventure! I'm nearly a year old and currently weigh around 28kg, I have filled out abit as I am no longer feeding the puppies and am getting consistent healthy nutrition at the shelter. I am new to walking on a harness and leash but I am a smart girl, keen to explore outside of the shelter but at my own pace. Car rides help me relax and I enjoy short sessions of clicker training or playing with balls in the yard. I can entertain myself outside alone too as long as I have a variety of toys to keep me occupied.
I would love to find patient understanding humans who will let me take things slowly and will be keen to work with a WAG approved positive reinforcement trainer to help me feel safe and learn the new skills that will get me to gain confidence and live in a home. I am so loving, I just need someone to take me home and show me the world is a safe place and I will start to show my sweet self.
Keep an eye on my profile for updates as the staff continue to get to know me better, but if you are interested in adopting me then go ahead and fill out an application to adopt today....
My perfect home:
Is dog savvy and willing to take a couple of trips to get to know me before taking me home.
Is patient and understands that I will need time to settle in and relax after my adoption and go at my own pace. I have had lots of huge change in my life recently and am on anti-anxiety medication to help me with the transition, which will need to be continued at the recommendation of my Vet team for the foreseable future.
Be proactive with my training, using a local WAG approved trainer that will help me learn transition and give me the best set up for success. Including being pro-muzzle and keen to continue my muzzle training plan.
Having a safe & secured yard would be a bonus for morning zoomies and ball play sessions! If not, being okay with using a long line to allow plenty of freedom but keep me safe works too. I would prefer a quieter area if possible!
Will take me for regular vet checkups and be proactive with my health.
