My story:

Meet Mohawk (MoMo) 💛

Mohawk is a sweet, happy boy who is currently recovering well from surgery.

Last week, he underwent a double procedure which included a mature neuter and the removal of a painful mass on his toe. The good news? His surgery went very well! The vet was able to remove the mass with clean margins, and best of all, Mohawk got to keep his toe! X-rays also show that the masses have not spread, which is a huge relief!

Since then, Mo has been back and forth to Coast Mountain Vets for bandage changes, but he’s now, thankfully, he's bandage-free on his toe! He’s still rocking the “cone of shame” to keep from licking his foot, but he’s handling it like a champ. WAG staff and the amazing CMVS team have been taking such great care of him, and we’re so grateful! Shout out to all the volunteer drivers who help get him where he needs to go.

Despite everything he’s been through, Mohawk’s spirit hasn’t changed one bit. He came from a very loving family who were facing some challenges, and it really shows in how kind and affectionate he is. He’s still a gentle, happy boy who loves getting out for walks with his favorite volunteers. Getting him ready, though? That’s a whole event: cone, harness, and foot protector included! Let’s just say it takes two people and a lot of patience (he’s basically a wiggly little hippopotamus 🦛).

On top of that, his skin infection is improving, and his ears are getting better after regular treatment and cleaning. He’s truly on the mend and feeling better every day.

We are incredibly thankful to everyone who donates towards our Critical Care Fund, it truly helps with Mohawk’s care. Medical costs can add up quickly, and your support has made a real difference in his recovery.

Now, Mohawk is ready for the next chapter, he would love to continue healing in a warm, and loving home.

Stay tuned for more updates as this special boy searches for his forever family 🐾

My perfect home:

  • A family with patience who would love to spoil a sweet, senior guy who needs some TLC, and is able to provide a safe space.

  • Is ready for the 10+ year commitment.

  • Understanding that I have had HUGE changes in my life. I will need you to give me the time I need to settle in and relax after my adoption, whilst you help me gain confidence.

  • Will understand canine body language (or is willing to learn) and will listen to my communication

  • Will take me for regular vet checkups, and be proactive with my health, especially in my golden years.

  • I need a home that is committed to me and ready to give me a life with love and kindness for the rest of my years.

  • Be proactive with my training/post adoption counselling, using a WAG approved trainer that will help me learn, transition and give me the best set up for success.
