My story:

Meet Rex!

Our newest arrival & Critical Care case. Rex is a 7 year old gentle soul, currently recovering in a loving foster home after a fracture repair surgery, neuter and wound debridement.

Rex survived an incredibly hard year on the streets with only the kindness of community members to look out for him. Despite being in a lot of pain, Rex is a fighter! He's patient, sweet, and brave.

He couldn’t stand when he arrived at WAG, but thanks to his rescuers from our sister shelter PAWS, dedicated WAG staff & volunteers, Harmony Vet, Coast Mountain Vet, Bridgeway Veterinary Specialists and his compassionate foster, he’s now safe, receiving the treatment he needed, and showing real hope.

We are endlessly grateful to everyone who helped get him here, and we're blown away but the support he's received. Thank you to everyone who has donated to his care & shared his story. Rex still needs ongoing care to recover from surgery including bandage changes and additional Xrays. If you are in a position to, please donate or share his story, every bit helps this deserving boy. Thank you. 🤍

My perfect home:

  • A family with patience who would love to spoil a sweet, seven year old guy who needs some TLC, and is able to provide a safe space.

  • A family who will adhere to all my medical needs post surgery.

  • Is ready for the 10+ year commitment.

  • Understanding that I have had HUGE changes in my life. I will need you to give me the time I need to settle in and relax after my adoption, whilst you help me gain confidence.

  • Will understand canine body language (or is willing to learn) and will listen to my communication

  • Be proactive with my training, using a WAG approved trainer that will help me learn, transition and give me the best set up for success.

  • Will take me for regular vet checkups, and be proactive with my health.

  • I need a home that is committed to me and ready to give me a life with love and kindness for the rest of my years.
