WAG Dog House Building Competition

WAG is thrilled to announce an exciting competition! We need new dog houses as our old ones, which have had about a ten year run, have been amazing for us but are ready to be replaced. If you have the skills, passion, and innovative ideas to build an exceptional dog house, we want you to get involved! We want to see what you got! We are hoping to see people's creative side combined with practical needs for our animals.
Competition Details:
1. Participation:
Open to professional builders, hobbyists, and DIY enthusiasts. Participants can enter individually or as a team.
2. Entry Requirements:
🐾Designs need to be submitted to WAG by April 20th for pre building approval.
🐾The shelter must be insulated to provide warmth during cold weather and protection from heat during the summer.
🐾Be a practical design that is approved by WAG Staff for functionality for the dogs.
🐾Built on a raised platform to protect from snow and water.
🐾Maximum 5ft x 5ft footprint.
🐾Install a slanted roof to facilitate the runoff of snowfall.
🐾Ideally if candidates can film or document some of the building process for our followers to see would be an amazing addition!
3. Judging Criteria:
Innovation and Creativity: Unique and original design elements.
Functionality: Practical features for dog comfort and element protection.
Durability: Use of high-quality materials that ensure long-lasting shelter.
Sustainability: Use of eco-friendly and recyclable materials.
4. Prizes: From FirstMate Pet Food and the Beacon Pub & Eatery as well as media exposure on our website, social media platforms and email mailing list.
🏆Best Functionality: Awarded to the dog house with the best features for comfort, durability, and weather resistance.
🏆People's Choice: Voted by the public for their favorite dog house overall.
5. Submission Deadline:
Design Submission Deadline April 20th, 2025.
Selected builders will be announced April 23rd, 2025.
All dog houses must be completed and delivered to WAG by May 31st, 2025.
Voting will begin for People's Choice. Winners announced in June.
