Help take care of Taylor!

Taylor is a four month old rottweiler mix. He was surrendered to WAG, Whistler’s animal shelter, at the Animal Wellness Clinics held in Mount Currie. WAG is trying to help more animals in the community and that includes little Taylor!

During the initial health check, Dr. Laura White from the Pemberton Veterinary Hospital diagnosed Taylor with an extreme case of internal parasites. He was promptly treated with multiple medications, but unfortunately after treatment, his little belly began to expand. Taylor was gaining a substantial amount of fluid in his belly.

He was taken back to see Dr. Laura and after multiple physical examinations, blood work, x-rays, and an ultrasound, we had some answers, but not all. His blood tests show anemia and low protein levels.

Taylor’s condition had not improved, and he was refereed to the specialized hospital, Canada West Veterinary Specialists in Vancouver, in hopes of a diagnosis and treatment plan.

Unfortunately a very rare congenital heart disorder called cor triatriatum dexter was identified in Taylor’s little heart. This rare congenital defect can explain Taylor’s clinical signs and swollen belly.

Only surgical intervention may improve Taylor’s condition. Please share Taylor’s story so we can afford this expensive and lifesaving procedure.

WAG is able to offer tax receipts for all donations over $20. Please contact us at wag@whistlerwag.com or call 604-935-8364 if you would like one.
